We hosted a celebration of games culture yesterday with our official Open Studios event as part of the London Games Festival, and it was exciting to see so many newcomers at Payload Studios and the Tentacle Zone Workspace
The Tentacle Zone is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion.
As part of the London Games Festival: Open Studios line-up, Payload Studios and the Tentacle Zone residents are opening up their doors for anyone working in the games industry to say hello, meet fellow devs and have a fun afternoon at our co-working space in Central London.
The 2022 Tentacle Zone incubator is in full swing but we’re also in regular contact with last year’s cohort and enjoy hearing their updates. We recently caught up with Jeffery Thompson Jr, founder of Epoch Media, who had plenty of positive news to share.
Payload Studios today announced that applications are open for the 2022 virtual Tentacle Zone Incubator for early stage developers from underrepresented groups. Applicants are encouraged from the UK, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, between the GMT and +4 hours time zone.
The Tentacle Zone brought together 4 exciting international game publishers to discuss accessing markets that otherwise developers may not have considered. Each of these publishers has an interesting business model for the game developers they are looking to sign up. From the event, we learned a little bit about each of them before diving into questions from the event participants.
At the Tentacle Zone, we want to help game developers by giving them access to insights from industry leader advertising agency Waste Creative, and their successful game marketing campaigns and projects. By attending this session, participants got a better understanding of the tools and processes they can use to structure a marketing campaign as well as what opportunities there were out there for independent game developers.
For this event, we have brought together a panel of seasoned game professionals to discuss different aspects of putting your game on Steam that participants might not have considered before. The attendees got a better understanding of the breadth of opportunities available to make their game stand out on Steam as well as the work that’s needed to improve their Steam tactics and strategy.
This event has been full of insights into games marketing. Throughout it, our participants and speaker explored 4 key areas in marketing:
Budget
Marketing plan review
Marketing tools
Strategic & tactical marketing patterns
